Statistical Order Calculation

The statistics behind most Order Calculations can be frightening. The use of a computer to generate order requirements goes back to the early 1950's with "Economic Order Quantities" (EOQ) and IBM's WHOLESALE IMPACT. The statistics have not changed much since then (1 + 1 = 2 is still valid). However, there is a multitude of systems on the market today that offer "Statistical Order Calculation". Today's systems offer a wide range of control parameters (Lead Time, Review Time, Service Levels, Forecasts, Buying Quantities, Vendor Minimums, Truckloading Requirements, etc.) that all interact to determine the final order. There are Mainframe, UNIX and Client/Server based systems. Some have Graphic User Interfaces (GUI). Some are "Stand Alone". Some are integrated with a Warehouse Management System. Some are part of a "Total Enterprise Solution".
